PEPPERFRY LAUNCHES TWO NEW STUDIOS IN BANGALORE, KARNATAKA STRENGTHENS ITS OMNI CHANNEL PRESENCE IN SOUTHERN INDIA

KARNATAKA, March 10th , 2022: Pepperfry, India’s No.1 furniture and home products marketplace, announced the launch of two new Studios in Bangalore. The offline expansion is in line with the company’s aim to penetrate niche markets and build the largest omni-channel business in the furniture and home products segment in India. Pepperfry, which launched its first Studio in 2014, currently has 100 plus Studios across 50 plus cities in the country. South India, which forms the biggest market for Pepperfry, alone, houses 35 Studios across Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Vizag, Madurai, Kottayam, Kollam, Salem, Gulbarga, Trichy Vellore, Secundrabad, Vijayawada, and Chittoor.

The two new Studios in Bangalore are situated in prime locations at Electronic City and Battarahalli, spanning a carpet area of 1000 and 400 sq.ft respectively. Both the studios are launched in partnerships with SSVR Enterprises at Electronic City and Haritha Enterprises at Battarahalli. The Studios offer customers a first-hand experience of a curated range of furniture and décor, which is carefully selected from the differentiated portfolio of more than 1 lakh products available on Pepperfry’s website. These Studios provide the touch and feel experience for consumers to understand wood finishes and quality of these big-ticket items before purchasing them. It also houses design experts that offer complementary design consultancy thereby aiding consumers in creating their dream homes.

For these Franchise Studios, Pepperfry decided to partner with the finest local entrepreneurs who are well versed with hyperlocal demand cycles and trends. The company revised this franchise model in 2020 to make it more lucrative for both existing and potential franchise partners. It now offers a reward structure wherein the franchise owners can benefit by earning commission of 15% (previous model: 10%) on each online transaction made via the franchise studio.

In June 2021, Pepperfry launched the Pepperfry Accelerator Program with an aim to establish over 200 Studios in one year. The objective of this newly crafted program is to exponentially expand Pepperfry’s offline footprint by adding one entrepreneur a day for the rest of the year. However, the big differentiator of the new program is the Capex required by franchise partners, which is around INR 15 lakhs - one-third as compared to the existing franchise program. Both the models are based on 100% price parity and does not require the partner to hold product inventory, making it a mutually beneficial business association.

Speaking of the launch Amruta Gupta, Business Head, Pepperfry said, “We are delighted to expand our omni-channel footprint by launching two new Studios in Bangalore in partnership with SSVR Enterprises and Haritha Enterprises. ~Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune continue to be top Indian source markets to South Africa~

~Over 1 in 4 Indian arrivals to South Africa are motivated by MICE~

~Ahmedabad emerges as one of the fastest growing source markets in India~

Bengaluru, 09th March 2022: To accelerate travel recovery momentum in India, South African Tourism looks at capitalizing on strong consumer demand in the country with their biggest travel trade initiative in India – their annual Roadshow. The tourism board showcased long-term investment and interest in the Indian market and outlined a strategic roadmap to garner 64% YoY increase in Indian visitors in 2022.

Travelling to the Indian cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad this year, the 36-member South African trade delegation reiterated the tourism board’s emphasis on expanding the destination and product offering – thus, offering Indian consumers More & More! In addition to experiences, representatives from accommodation establishments, destination management companies, South African Provinces, SMMEs and women-owned companies showcased their product and services, while engaging Indian travel and trade associates.

India retains its place amongst the top-3 focus markets for South African Tourism. This is aided by the fact that prior to the pandemic, India served as the 8th largest international source market for South Africa. The country is expected to maintain its position in the top-10 this year as well. Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune continue to be top Indian source markets to South Africa.

“We have spent the last two years hoping for and preparing for this exact moment – the return of travel! As South African businesses land on Indian shores, we are excited to be introducing our partners and consumers to a host of value-driven and thoughtfully crafted adventures. Our evolved brand strategy will help us drive South Africa’s value proposition across stakeholders while creating customized engagement models to suit the unique requirements from each of our target regions within India. We are already seeing an uptick in forward travel bookings and hope to further build aspiration and intent to travel,” said Neliswa Nkani, Hub Head, MEISEA, South African Tourism.

With 9% of total Indian visitors to South Africa travelling from Bengaluru, the city is amongst the top-3 source mark

ts for South African Tourism in India. Majority visitors from the Silicon Valley of India travel for leisure (47%) and business & MICE (43%). Solo travellers and bleisure travellers are the most frequent traveller segments to South Africa. The year-end period starting from September, October, November and December are preferred travel months amongst Bangaloreans for their South Africa trips.

Through a press conference, the tourism board highlighted that boosting connectivity and ease of travel to the destination was a core area of focus this year. The destination, which remains open to Indian travellers, is also processing tourist visas on priority. At present, several stop-over flights fly from India to South Africa, including Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and Air Mauritius. Travellers from India to South Africa will be required to produce a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test, not older than 72 hours from the time of departure from the country of origin to South Africa.

Revealing future steps on connectivity and value, Neliswa Nkani added, “We are glad to announce that we on track to roll-out e-visas in India in the coming months. We are also conscious of the need for value-driven itineraries and are undertaking bullish measures to ensure that every rupee spent ensures maximum returns. By engaging with airlines on subsidized fares for the India market, we are looking to bring down the cost of travel remarkably.”

While consolidating its position in wildlife, adventure and cultural offerings, the destination will also target the niche film tourism market, for which South African Tourism has seen an upswing in enquiries and destination shoots. In order to arrive at this, the destination is engaging aggressively with production houses and OTT platformsTo supplement recovery efforts and bring the destination alive by introducing the sights, sounds and tastes of South Africa to Indian consumers and corporates, the tourism board is also hosting several experiential events in Mumbai and Delhi immediately following the Roadshows. With performances by South African dance troupes, indigenous music, delectable food cooked by South African chefs and various culturally immersive activities, destination South Africa is all set to engage and delight Indian audiences. South African Tourism is also hosting a networking evening for travel trade partners in Mumbai.

Well-timed with the easing of international travel restrictions in India, these strategic efforts are expected to increase summer outbound traffic to South Africa and contribute to the recovery of the tourism sectors in both countries.

Latest-generation Western "Apomorphine Therapy Devices" for Parkinson’s Patients Launched in Bengaluru

 • This is for the first time that advanced, third-generation apomorphine pumps and pens used in Western countries, manufactured by German pharma major Ever Pharma, have been introduced in India by Celera Neuro Sciences

These latest European drug-delivery devices are miles ahead of current apomorphine pumps available in India, which are unreliable and patient-unfriendly

Apomorphine therapy offers an effective treatment option for various stages of Parkinson’s Disease. It can also be an alternative to DBS surgery which involves drilling holes in the patient’s skull and is unaffordable for most patients• Celera Neuro Sciences is opening clinics in hospitals all over India in collaboration with prominent neurologists to administer apomorphine therapy to patients with these latest-generation Western pumps and pens

BENGALURU / March 5th , 2022: In a boon to patients of Parkinson’s Disease, advanced third-generation D-mine apomorphine pumps and pens (injections) manufactured by German pharma major Ever Pharma have been launched in Bengaluru by Celera Neuro Sciences. The state-of-the-art apomorphine-delivery devices, widely used in Europe, were unveiled by Dr. K Sudhakar, Hon’ble Minister of Medical Education & Health, Govt. of Karnataka, at the ongoing symposium on Parkinson's Disease in Bengaluru, organized by King's College London (KCL) and Parkinson's Research Alliance of India (PRAI).

Said Dr. Babu Narayanan, Medical Director, Celera Neuro Sciences which has brought the products to India after getting DCGI approval: “Parkinson’s patients in India till now had only two options: oral pills for early stages of the disease, or Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery for advanced stages. There was no other treatment available. These latest-generation European apomorphine-delivery devices fill this gap and offer an important medical option in the management of Parkinson’s Disease and improving quality of life. They ensure much better outcomes for patients who haven’t achieved optimum benefits with available drugs or are suffering from side-effects of oral medicationDr. K Sudhakar, Hon’ble Minister of Medical Education & Health. Said Dr. K Sudhakar, Hon’ble Minister of Medical Education and Health, Govt. of Karnataka: “Considering the rising patient population of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders in India, it is important to focus on technology and research for treatment solutions. Karnataka has a phenomenal healthcare and medical education ecosystem. We now need to increase investments in medical research. We want this collaboration between King's College London (KCL) and Parkinson's Research Alliance of India (PRAI) on Parkinson’s disease to be successful and will provide support in every possible way. I would like the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to align with this great research initiative. We would provide not only professors, but also funds for this important research program on Parkinson’s. I would also like to allocate some funds for treatment of Parkinson’s patients in Karnataka out of the Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust. This will be announced shortly by us after discussions.”

Said Bengaluru’s renowned Parkinson’s Disease specialist Dr. Prashanth LK: “India is emerging as a hot spot for Parkinson’s disease. Unlike most ageing-related disorders, Parkinson’s has many effective treatment options available. Apomorphine infusion therapies and rescue injections (pens) are the current state-of-the-art therapies for people with moderately advanced Parkinson’s disease. The PRAI-KCL collaboration has helped bring these advanced German devices to India for apomorphine therapy. These can be used as rescue therapies in people having unpredictable responses to oral medications, or as an infusion therapy for those requiring steady phase medication responses.”Added Dr. Babu Narayanan: “Most patients in India cannot afford DBS. This procedure is also not a choice for all ages or stages of Parkinson’s Disease. Apomorphine is recommended for patients who have started to have motor fluctuations, which means the effect of oral medications is not lasting long enough. It is also an effective alternative for patients who are not the right candidates for DBS, or those who want to avoid surgery. In fact, international guidelines now recommend use of apomorphine therapy before considering DBS for patients. We are now in the process of opening clinics in hospitals all over India in collaboration with prominent neurologists who will administer apomorphine therapy to patients with these latest-generation Western pumps and pens.”

The current apomorphine pumps available in India are not patient-friendly and lack reliability. For example, patients need to refill them after breaking up to 20 ampules of apomorphine, which is difficult to do with trembling hands. In contrast, the third-generation D-mine apomorphine pumps, widely used in Europe, can be self-handledby patients in five easy steps, with much less patient training needed. The pump-filling process is controlled electronically, with much higher safety and convenience, compared to pumps which are operated manually, with cumbersome procedures. D-mine pumps are pre-filled and offer continuous infusion of apomorphine, leading to absorption within five minutes. The oral pill burden of patients also comes down substantially.Parkinson’s patients need to take medications at timely intervals, which often leads to fluctuating levels of medication in their bodies and irregular benefits. Continuous Dopaminergic Therapy is a method by which the body receives dopamine on a continuous basis, because of which fluctuations associated with medications are negated significantly. With the launch of D-mine apomorphine continuous-infusion pumps and injection pens, Indian patients can now benefit from Continuous Dopaminergic Therapy, which till now was available only in Western countries.

The current prevalence of Parkinson’s Disease in India is around 300-400 out of 100,000, which is expected to double by 2030. It will be a major non-communicable degenerative disorder along with dementia to burden the healthcare system of India. Though majority of the patients are above 50 years of age, its incidence in younger population is also on the rise.
